Consider becoming a HospiceCare volunteer!
Volunteers fill many roles at Florida Hospital HospiceCare. They are an important part of the patient care team, providing a special kind of caring and compassion to our patients and their families. HospiceCare volunteers are trained by our professional staff and receive certification for their training.
There are several ongoing opportunities to be a volunteer:
Patient Services:
• Providing emotional support to patients and families
• Listening to patients and families
• Reading to a patient, or holding a hand
• Staying with a patient while families members take a needed break or keep an appointment
• Shopping or doing errands for a patient
• Providing transportation for a patient or family member
• Praying or singing with a patient
• Providing emotional support and friendship to the patient and family
Our Complementary Therapies include HosPoochCare/HosPussCare... a pet partners program of Florida Hospital HospiceCare and our HospiceCare Horticulture Therapy program. For more information, click here.
Administrative Services:
• Calling or visiting bereaved families to offer emotional support
• Coordinating mailings to bereaved families
• Typing, answering phones and filing
• Helping with data entry
• Greeting visitors at our Oceanside and Stuart F. Meyer facilities
• Tending plants and gardens at our Oceanside and Stuart F. Meyer facilities
Community Relations:
• Work with the Community Liaisons to provide information about Florida Hospital HospiceCare at local health fairs and other community events.
• Assist with various other fundraisers and activities through out the year.
